Done and Done with class 5

Yes that is right it is done, I passed class 5.
this term went by super duper fast, and I learned quite a bit either that or the animation hamster decided to wake up and start working that hamster wheel. So this means also after the short break I will be in class 6 with my new mentor, should be fun right =)

So I had some spare time this pass weekend and set up some lights on the 1st shot of this piece, its a test as I play around with colors and refresh my brain around rendering again. Honestly I kinda like the colors and feel like i may stick with this version, we will see. There is still no motion blur, don't think I will add it to the final reel.

this is how far i got in class 5, still needs more polishing but animation side of my brain is on cooldown for another 15 days.

enjoy,

Just a few more weeks till I am into the final class...... 0_o*

wow I can't believe this term is going by tooo fast. Week 9 has past and now I am in week 10 of class 5. My animation is coming along its at the point where its polishing and polishing and polishing and....... polishing and adding some extra texture to the animation. I find this stage really hard cause it feels like what more can you do, but then you find more things to do always.
well  then now for what you came to see, here is my week 9 assingment

Enjoy

Week 8 of class 5

Phew another week came and gone.

So while many where at CTN Expo this pass week, I was at home sick with a sick kid animating where I could find time. x_X
For week 8 thankfully it's not as intense, I started the Polishing stage this past week and mainly hit the mentor notes. I am having a fun time in this phase mainly with doing more with the mouth>cheek>nose>eye stuff. It's rather fun trying not to over do the face but get it feeling loose. One thing I am finding hard too is making sure the Male character stays a little over the top while the girl is tone down. its a challenge, indeed it is

Well Here is Week 8

Enjoy!

Class 5 Week 7

Week 7 came to end a day and some hours ago, so here is a quick upload of my most current stuff. Still Work In Progress, I tone down alot from previous versions & feel that I will be taking away more stuff too later this week. I can't honestly tell you its been easy, but animation isn't, and juggling a full time job with a family and while trying to do this thing called animation gets tough. Can't imagine what class 6 will be like and how many hours of sleep I will lose.

Anyways enough of the blah blah blah and more showing my progress well here it is.

Enjoy!
Again Work in Progress

Class 5 week 2

Hey anyone out there reading this,

So AM has started back up for me I am in class 5 now. My mentor for this Term is Peter Kelly, He has worked on some great stuff like Avengers, working on hulk and Iron Man for that movie. He also worked on Rango, which is a really fun movie if you haven't seen it. and if you haven't put two and two together he is a animator at ILM. =) yes he has worked on many other features but these are the 1st two that come to mind for me.

I took a break after class 4 for a few reasons, one of them being I was expecting my son to arrive anytime soon. The other reason was starting a new job at Google, I felt that was to much on my plate so yeah. I also wasn't happy about my dialogue animation so I ended up shooting more reference and reblocking it on any free time I had during my break. On top of doing that with some spare time I painted alot with oils and with photoshop, lots of doodling too.

Now to move on for the reason why you are here, below is the reblock of my one person dialogue, with my 2 person layout. I didn't post in week one since its just pick out your dialogue and nothing to fancy. I will be sure to upload my progress in this class each week.

Two Person Dialogue: The ideal is to have this guy try and pick up a chick at the bus stop. He is persistent and the girl just wants to get out of that place asap.

A quick image of the characters and the set

Here is my Reblock: I really didn't like how much the original moved around, it was way to cartoony for what I was going for. Trying to tone down the Original was to much work, it felt easier going this way.

Until next post,  Enjoy!

The End... for class 4!

So yes this term is over, I am in a bag with mix emotions and they won't leave me alone.  I realize that I haven't posted on here for the whole term, I was just to busy unfortunately.

But on the plus side of things I had many great things happen for me during this term, one of them was getting hired for Google. . . and well hmmmm oh yeah my new kid should be here soon!!! having to do training last month during class 4 was a challenge. I know it hurt my time management but in the end I pulled through. I had to take a Leave of Absence from AnimationMentor to plan and get things ready for the newborn.

I plan on only taking this one break and then back to finish the last two classes. But during my LoA I am going to do some simple animation test and not go over the top with the character like i have been. I hope I can also finish a painting or two before the new kid is here. anyways enough rambling about this and here is my 1st attempt at a 3d Dialogue shot & the pantomime.

The Dialogue, I used a clip from a show called Misfits, funny thing is it was in my top 3 pick, my mentor focus me on this one

Pantomime, this was a fun shot having the character change emotions from panic to a sense of relief.

By the way if you were pondering my mentor was Ray Chase, an awesome dude

well thats it for now

Enjoy.

week 11 of class 3

to whoever is reading this so its been a long time again for me since i post anything on my blog. I have failed X_X!!!! yeah it was hard to post on here between working full-time and doing AnimationMentor with a hint of being a dad. I found myself burnt out come Sundays and not wanting to be anywhere near a computer. so here is kind of a big dump of my past few exercise that i missed these last weeks

Exercise 3: one more week left to work on it

Exercise 2: this is a set from final to blocking. This doesn't have the absolute final, just the ones that were turn in.

Exercise 1: This is also not the final version, but the final one I turned in at the time.

I will have post for sure next week the whole Progress Reel when its said and done with for class 3.
for now,
Enjoy

wow what term already started!!!!

So I am try to keep up with a post at least once a week on here showing my work and progress from AM. I know i been slacking cause now we are in week 3 and I haven't spoke about anything, well here it is.

The new year started and I am assigned a really awesome mentor by the name David Weatherly of Dreamworks animation for class 3. also I am picking the Animation Exercise so each of my 3 pieces this class will be different form of physical action. my 1st shot is going to be a golf swing, I have my blocking down below so check it out.

Now I was in San Francisco  back on the weekend of jan 7th for a meetup with Travis Tohill my mentor from class 2 and got to tour ILM. This was beyond Epic just seeing all the art from actually movies and concept models the size of dinner tables was beyond what I could imagine. I found so many things inspiring on this tour and hearing my former mentor input on me and fellow class mates was great and rejuvenating, that was only on friday.

One place that I was able to make it out to on the next day was the Walt Disney Family  Museum, being able to make it out to this was awesome and it had epic things from Disney earlier years. I recomend anyone who is a aspiring animator, pro animator, or just a fan of it to go check this museum out. I kid you not you will love it.

well no more boring you with things here is the blocking of week 2
